I was wondering today what things looked like on "the other side of the world," and of course instead of patiently waiting to find out in a few days, I had to pull up Google Earth, just like the bear who went over the mountain, to see what I could see. Here's what I found. Three of the locations we'll be visiting are pictured: Oradea, and then two of the gypsy camps, Osorhei & Cheriu (pronounced O-sure-hey and Katie-you) ;) I couldn't zoom in as close in Romania as I could in the US. In Google Earth, you can see houses and cars parked in the US! It's kinda crazy. But it is still interesting to see the lay of the land and know that it won't be long before we are driving and walking those streets ourselves. What's really cool is to type in "Oradea, Romania" and watch the Google Earth globe spin as it zooms in. It's so far away! The other side of the world...it's astonishing to realize how far it is, how big the world is, how small we are! And if you think THAT makes you feel small, check out these pictures below...by the time you get to the 3rd picture, you should feel pretty microscopic. The 4th and 5th pictures...well, I'm not sure what's smaller than microscopic, but we're it. Think of how complex we THINK we are, and yet in reality, we're soooooo minute. It's incredible that a God LARGE enough to comprehend and create all this could value us like He does. While I try to put all my daily cares aside and focus on our upcoming trip, these thoughts calm me and make me realize just how petty everything else is.
